Parenting Coordination
What is Parenting Coordination and Arbitration (Coming Soon)
Parenting Coordination is a private, confidential and specialized dispute resolution process that incorporates coaching, mediation and arbitration. In Ontario, Parenting Coordination is a voluntary process therefore parents cannot be ordered into Parenting Coordination by a Judge, unlike in other jurisdictions.
Parents who struggle to interpret or implement their parenting plans may experience a high level of conflict while coparenting. A Parenting Coordinator (PC) can assist parents with interpreting and managing their parenting plans to help minimize conflict, improve the understanding and implementation of the parenting plan and increase the opportunity for a successful coparenting relationship.
With the support of a PC, parents have an opportunity to resolve their disputes together using coaching and mediation processes. If resolutions cannot be reached, the PC will move the parties towards Arbitration. The parents will be asked to submit evidence and make their arguments to the PC, following which the PC will make a binding decision.
The PC will work respectfully and compassionately with the parents and from the fundamental premise of neutrality while thoughtfully putting the needs of the child or children first.
Nikki is in the process of obtaining her certification in Parenting Coordination and will be offering this specialized dispute resolution in the near future.
